PICO OKADA
Pico Okada is a Japanese visual artist who earned a B.F.A. degree from Musashino Art University in Tokyo, majoring in Japanese painting. Since 2016, she has been based in Amsterdam.
She has held several solo exhibitions in Tokyo, exploring concepts of environmental issues, aggregates and trauma through paintings, installations, videos, and photographs.
For over a decade, she has also specialised in live painting performances, creating large-scale works in public venues in front of audiences.
In her recent works, she focuses on the concepts of mass psychology and conformity, while expressing aspects of Japanese pop character culture, consumer society, and homogeneity.
Her paintings have been exhibited in several art fairs, including Art Miami and Volta Basel.
